Rowley family 1: Daniel Rowley, Sr.

The ancestors and descendents of Daniel Rowley (1720-1790): Daniel Rowley descended from the first known Rowley in America, Henry Rowley the Pilgrim to America in 1632 who was aligned with the Separtists from Kent, England.

Daniel Rowley, Sr., was born in East Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut and migrated to New Canaan, NY and Orwell, VT with his wife and children. His final retirement was in Orwell, VT which is at the lower shore of Lake Champlain and across from Fort Ticonderoga, NY.

Daniel had three different wives: (1st) Bethiah Langrell of Lebanon, CT, who died young: Rowley branches 1-3 are descendents of this wife; (2nd) Jemima Parsons of Durham, CT: Rowley branches 4-8 are descendents of this wife; and (3rd) Rachel.

Alter Family from Switzerland to Pennsylvania

Jacob Johann Alter (ca 1742-1815) and his wife Margaret (Landis) Alter (ca 1743-ca 1806). Jacob immigrated from Switzerland to America and was of Swiss and French descent. He first settled in Lancaster County, PA, and was a colonel in the Revolutionary war. He went to Washington county, Pennsylvania about 1808. Our Rowley family is related to his grandson, Dr. David Alter, a doctor, scientist and inventor of Freeport, PA. David Alter married into the Rowley family.

Atkinson Family from Yorkshire, England to Pennsylvania

The descendents of James Atkinson (1803-1860): James was a son of William and Mary (Shaw) Atkinson of Owston, Yorkshire, England, and he became a farmer in Western Pennsylvania. James immigrated from Yorkshire, England, to America on the ship, "Margaret Ann" in April, 1822 with his older brother John. Our Rowley family is related to his daughter, Lena (Atkinson) Beale.

The descendents of Captain Thomas Beale (1736-1803) and Sarah (Todhunter) Beale. Thomas was born in East Whiteland, Chester County, PA and died in Tuscarora Valley, Juniata, PA. The Rowleys are related through his son Albion Beale, a farmer who settled in Braeburn, PA. Albion Beale had a son, David C. Beale who married Emma Rowley....

Burtner Family of Pennsylvania

The descendents of Philip Burtner (1767-1848) who was born in Bethel, Bucks County, and was a pioneer of Deer Township (later known as East Deer, then Harrison township), Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. There he built a stone house, now known as the "Burtner House" with the help of his eldest son George W. See George W. and Polly (Rowley) Burtner in Rowley branch 1, for many more descendents.

Delsman Family of Holland

The Delsmans trace their line back to Ascheberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany in 1688, where the surname was spelled Delsmann, and to Johannas Delsmann (1776-1835) who immigrated from Munster to Amsterdam, Holland before 1804 and married Maria Stork. The ancestry includes Dutch families from Amsterdam and Haarlem with the surnames of Visser, Van den Broek, as well as the Van den Boschs and de Reijgers of Coevorden, Drenthe, Netherlands.

De Reiger Family of Dackhorst and Coevorden (The Netherlands)

The descendents of Rutger David de Reiger (ca 1680-1747), a landjonker (squire) and his son Hindrik (1709-1777) born at Dackhorst, an estate to the east of Rijssen, The Netherlands. Hindrik went to the Drenthe Province by 1740, and died in Coevorden, Drenthe, The Netherlands. They are ancestors of my grandmother Johanna Hendrica (Delsman) Van Wijk. The decendents of Joseph Langrell (1695-1783) a weaver whose earliest recorded residence was in Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts. He married Mary Thomas (see the Thomas family). He migrated to Goshen, New London, Connecticut. We are related through his daughter Bethiah Langrell, and grandson Joseph Langrell Rowley.

Our line descends from a grandson Conrad Nolf, a lumberman of Freeport, Pennsylvania.

Thomas Family Roots (of Plymouth Colony)

John Thomas immigrated from England to Plymouth Colony, America with the pilgrims in the ship named Hopewell in September, 1635, as an orphan, age 14. He was a servant of Gov. Van den Bosch Family of Coeverden and Leeuwarden (The Netherlands)

The descendents of Reinier Van den Bosch (ca 1680-1747) of Coeverden, Drenthe Province, the Netherlands, and his wife Greitje Stienstra, and their son Jacobus (1788-1851). Jacobus moved to Leeuwarden in Friesland Province, by the year 1827, and became a merchant ("markskramer" and "koopman"). Jacobus married to Geessian de Reiger. Van Tassel /Van Texel family from The Netherlands to New York

The American Van Tassels are descendents of Jan Cornelis Van Texel and his son Cornelius, who both immigrated from Texel, the Netherlands to the Dutch Colony on Long Island, New York, between 1606 and 1624. Cornelius Jansen Van Texel (Van Tassel) married Catoneras, a Native American leader of the Montauk Tribe of Long Island, New York. The descendends of Cornelis Van Texel became the Van Tassels who populated Phillipstown and became founding members the Dutch Reformed Church of Sleepy Hollow, New York... Our line descends from Frederick Van Tassel who migrated from Phillipstown to Copake, NY and Lorain County, Ohio.

Van Wijk Family from Holland to California

The ancestry of my grandpa, Cornelius Van Wijk (1903-1979), an immigrant from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Van Wijks are Dutch and trace back to Jan Van Wijk and Adriana Schouten, both born about 1790 in Wijk En Aalburg, Noord Brabant, the Netherlands.

Wagner Family from Germany to Ohio
