The funeral of E. Collins Baker took place from his late residence in the town of Watertown at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Rev. Dr. Fisk, of this city, officiating. The interment took place at Brookside, Notwithstanding the storm and the condition of the road, there was a numerous attendance of the friends of the deceased and the family.
Mr. Baker was at work as usual on Monday in the evening he went to the barn to make the usual preparations for the night, and while there was suddenly attacked by a pain in the chest, near the heart ...the end was sudden and unlooked for. His daughter Florence was sitting alone with him, when, without a sign or warning, the life passed from the body like the snuffing of a candle....
Mr. Baker was one of the best known farmers in the country.... He was beloved by those who knew him best, and what more can be said in praise of any man?
The deceased leaves a wife and three daughters - Mrs. C. G. Baldwin and Mrs. S. R. Cleveland, of this city, and Miss Florence Baker, who lives at the family home in the town of Watertown."
