Franklin B. Rowley was born September 2, 1847, on the old homestead about three miles south of Fabius where he resided until about nineteen years ago when he and wife removed to the village where they purchased a place in which they enjoyed their last few years in comfort. Mrs. Rowley passed away three years ago, leaving her husband very lonely.
Up to within a year he was able to do considerable work on his farm and made a fine garden, declining strength forced him to discontinue work and as winter came on he was unable to be about much. He possessed a very strong constitution and had braved many hardships. He was "Grandpa" Rowley to old and young in the village and was held in high esteem by all.
Mr. Rowley passed away at his home, Friday, Dece. 26, about 9:30 P.M. The funeral was held at the home Monday, December 29, Rev. Carl Swift officiating. Burial was in Fabius Evergreen Cemetery.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. C. Adell Hill, a son Byer F. Rowley; five granddaughters, Mrs. Chas. Selover, Mrs. Leonard Foster, Mrs. Alfred Jensen, Emily and Esther Rowley; also seven great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters."
