John "Ben" Brakefield, Sr, 59, of Highland Park, Camp Hill, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Harrisburg Hospital.
He was retired from the Marine Corp and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Currently he was employed by the Pennsylvania State Department of Welfare. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church; the American Legion and VFW Posts of New Cumberland; the Steelton Moose Lodge; and the Mechanicsburg Club.
He was born September 5, 1943 in Syracuse to the late Ernest and Mabel (Rowley) Brakefield.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Cookie" Brakefield; son, J.D. Brakefield and his wife Nicole of Camp Hill; daughter, Marina A. Brakefield of Storrs, CT and her husband Wes Younts; two brothers, Richard of Palm Springs, CA and Michael of Wappwalopen; two sisters, Judy Norton of and Jean Hooter of California; and a granddaughter, Sophia Gelaine Brakefield of Camp Hill.
Memorial Services will be held at 5pm Saturday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, New Cumberland.
Interment with Military Honors will be held at 10:30am Monday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Visitation will be from 4-5pm Saturday at the funeral home
