Robert M. Rublee, 39, of 148 Roycroft Blvd, Snyder, vice-president and treasurer of the Buffalo Fire Office, general insurance agency, died yesterday at Millard Fillmore Hospital after a long illness.
Prominent in various organizations, he was the first chartered property and casualty underwriter in Buffalo. He was a past president of the Buffalo Chapter of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters.
Mr. Rublee was born in Ellington, near Jamestown. He was graduated from Cornell University in 1941, and was a member of the Theta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He served as a lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II.
A former vice president of the Greater Buffalo Assn. of Insurance Agents, Mr. Rublee was a member of the Casualty & Insurety Club and the Insurance Club of Buffalo.
He joined the Buffalo Fire Office in 1946, after working briefly for the Socony Mobile Oil Co. in Buffalo.
Received Award
A past director of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, he was the recipient of the Bredenberg Award, given each year to an outstanding director of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Rublee was an immediate past president of the trustees of Lafayette Ave. Presbyterian Church. He also had served as a deacon and elder.
Past president of the Cornell Club of Buffalo, Mr. Rublee was a member of the Gyro Club; Mid-Day Club; University Club, and a past president of the Harlem Rd. School PTA. He was a former member of the Greater Buffalo Advertising Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Rice; two sons, Clarence 11, and Parke 8; a daughter, Charlotte Lynn, 6; and his mother, Mrs. Minnie Rublee.
Memorial services will be held at 4 tomorrow afternoon at Lafayette Ave. Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Paul David Poling will officiate."
