Russel a well known, highly respected citizen of this village, passed away at his home, on Main Street, Saturday morning, August 13, 1932 after a lingering illness.
God's grace was very manifest through all his suffering and was continually shown forth to all who saw him, many resolving to walk a closer walk with God.
He was born in Gainesville, Sept. 14, 1862. His occupation was mainly farming. He gave his heart to God in early life and since has taken great pleasure in helping others, the golden rule being his delight.
He was married to Miss Genevia I Reeves of this village, Oct. 27, 1887. To them were born seven children, one dying in early life. There remains his wife and six children to mourn his loss. Mrs. W. D. Russell, Misses Ethel and Beulah Russell of Gainesville, Howard and Clifford of Gainesville, also Howard and Clifford Russell, Mrs. Willis Steele of Brockport, [and] Mrs. Chas. Barton of Frewsburg.
Funeral Service was held at his late home Monday at 2:30 p.m, Alder B. W. Miner of Chilli officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville."
