(nee Lorence) Irish, 89, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. Pauline was born on March 17, 1918, in Wellington to the late Frederick and Bertha (nee Wagner) Lorence and was a lifelong resident of Wellington, where she graduated in the class of 1936. Pauline retired from the Wellington School system where she worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Irish was a 50-year member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wellington and was actively involved in the church. Most recently, she was a member of Faith Christian Church in Wellington. She belonged to the Sullivan Chapter of the Eastern Star for 65 years and held many offices. She was a Cub Scout leader, and at one time belonged to the Kings Daughters, the Town and Country Club and the Rebecca Lodge. Survivors include her children, Kathryn (Varnie) Hunter of Wellington, Robert (Shirley) Irish of Attica, Richard (Amy) Irish of Wellington; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Irish was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in 1976; and a grandchild. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St, Wellington. Eastern Star services will be 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington.
