Funeral services were held at the Ogden M.E. Church on Friday, June 1, at two o' clock for Peter John Wagner, who died at the Lakeview hospital at Danville, May 30.
Peter John was born August 7, 1856, at Braunhelm, Ohio, died at Danville, Ill, May 30 1923, aged 66 years 9 months and 28 days.
He was the son of Berkhardt and Catherine (Hahn) Wagner, deceased.
He was one of four children, Charles, H, Henry Charles, and Sapie Wolehevier, all of them living in Vermilion county.
Mr. Wagner was united in marriage three times, namely: Anna Loeffler, in the spring of 1887, and to this union was born three children, Minnie Clara Firebaugh and Albert, they are all deceased.
He was married the second time to Marie Elizabeth Loeffler, September 1884. To the second mariage, three children were born, Edith Yeazel, Charles and John, of which Charles, of Ogden is living.
For his third wife, Mr. Wagner married Minnie Mary Corraw, September 13, 1984[sic]. There were two childrenm Roy and Elmer, of which Elmer, of Danville, is living. Besides his children he leaves two step children, Arley Corray and Clara Holley, fourteen grand childtren and a host of relatives and friends who mourn his loss.
He was a member of the German Reform church, and also a member of the Masonic order and the Eastern Star. He was a resident of Ogden township for forty-four years. Mr. Wagner had been a sufferer for quite a while, but was cheerful to the end. He was a man of high principles, of absolute integrity, of character, and has enjoyed the friendship and esteem of a large circle of friends."
