N131. Brookfield Courier (NY), published on the internet at http://www.fultonhistory.com, 1928 June 6. "Charles J. Elliott, an esteemed resident of this village, passed away Saturday night, after an illness of more than a year.
Mr. Elliott was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Elliott and was born April 13, 1856. His mother's death occurring when he was one year old, he was brought to the home of an aunt in Brookfield, where he received his education. A graduate of the old Brookfield Academy. Mr. Elliott was by occupation a farmer, but retired several years ago, having purchased a residence in the village. Until ill health prevented he was a regular attendant at the Baptist church.
Mr. Elliott was twice married. His first wife was Miss Ada Thompson, to whom he was married October 24, 1877, and who died soon after moving to this village. He married Mrs. Alice Butterbaugh of Denver, Colo, June 5, 1919, by whom he is survived. Also a son and daughter by his first marriage, Ferris Elliot of this village and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock by Rev. John W. Crippen. Burial was in Brookfield."
