N29. Tully Times (NY), (newspaper) digital scans published on the internet at fultonhistory.com, 1907 Jul. 20. "Sad Death of Newell Rowley.
Newell Rowley of Auburn died at the home of his mother in Fabius on Friday evening of last week. Mr. Rowley was the youngest son of Mrs. Mary, and the late Hibbard Rowley, and was twenty one years of age. On June 18 last he was married to Miss Myrtle Dunn, daughter of Arthur Dunn. The young couple went directly to Auburn where Mr. Rowley had prepared a cozy home for his bride and with every expectation of a long and happy life together.
Saturday, July 6, Mr. and Mrs. Rowley came to Fabius to spend Sunday with relatives, the next day he was taken ill. Tuesday his disease was pronounced appendicitis and in the ___ of that day Drs. Hartman of Syracuse and Leonard of Tully operated on him. Doctors Hartman and Leonard, owing to the length of time that had elapsed before they were called, held out no hope. Friday a second operation was deemed necessity to save his life. At first Mr. Rowley rallied finely but soon began to fail, dying at about 10 o'clock that night. The funeral was held at 2:30 Sunday from the home of his mother, where he died. The bereaved families have the sympathy of the entire community.
Besides his widow, Mr. Rowley is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Rowley and three sisters, Mrs. Floyd Schellinger of Gloversville, Mrs. C. Bush of Syracuse, and Miss Maude Rowley of Fabius and Arthur Rowley of Syracuse University."
