The Rev. Albert Mantle SHELDON, 78, a local Methodist preacher 57 years, died Wednesday morning at the Methodist home in Topeka.
"He was a scholarly gentleman, active in religious work, all thru his years," said Rev. C. B. ZOOK head of the home.
Reverend Sheldon had a theory whereby he thought that he could guarantee the peace of the world thru the use of certain ideals. Last year he won the Biblical exhibit at the Kansas Free Fair. he was a contributor to newspapers, and The Topeka Daily Capital Letter Box, has published much of his writing.
Reverend Sheldon was born in Van Buren county, Michigan in 1848. He came to Kansas in 1887, but went to California in 1911, where he lived until his wife's death in 1918 when he returned to Kansas. He had been a resident of the Methodist home here since March 8, 1932.
He was a graduate of Iowa State university, holding A.B. and B.D. degrees.
He is survived by a son, Charles P. Sheldon, of Los Angeles, Calif, three daughters, Mrs. Elma BUHE of El Reno, Okla, Mrs. Gertrude GILLIES, of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Albert SPENCER, of Kansas City; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at the Methodist home, Thursday at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery."
