Mrs. Belle C. Rowley Passed Away After a Short Illness at Eustis, FL. (Eustis, Florida, News.)
Mrs. Belle C. Rowley, one of our highly respected citizens, passed to her eternal reward, early Thursday morning, Jun 26, 1913.
Mrs. Rowley was a widowed lady, living with her only son, Clifford, on Mary Street, having moved to Eustis from Elkhart, Indiana, last October.
She and her son had planned a trip to Miami for that week, but the Saturday afternoon preceding, she was taken ill, and quietly, but most unexpectedly, passed away Thursday morning.
Mrs. Rowley's maiden name was Clark. She was born in Wells county, Indiana, 58 years ago. About 34 years ago she was married to Mr. Rowley, and they were permitted to live together for 22 years. He preceded her 12 years ago. One child blessed this union, Clifford.
She was converted when a child, uniting with and was raised in the Presbyterian Church. Afterward she and her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she has been a consistent member for 30 years, until called into the Church Triumphant.
She has been a leader in the Young People's Work of the W.C.T.U. for 25 years, a part of that time holding a National office.
She leaves the following to mourn their loss, besides a host of friends, here and elsewhere: Clifford, her only son, Eustis, Fla; Mrs. Clara Johnson, Hoxie, Kansas; Mrs. Peal Ross, , Cal; and Miss Marie Rowley, Sturgis, Mich; a brother, James Clark, Westphalia, Kas.
The funeral services were held in the home on Mary Street, by her pastor, J. H. Elder, assisted by Dr. Stephens, who knew Mrs. Rowley in Michigan a number of years ago. A large number of neighbors and friends were present. A profusion of flowers and floral designs attested the esteem in which she was held in the community.
Internment in Greenwood cemetery, just east of town."
