He graduated from Syracuse University in 1916. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Caneadea, Western Union Lodge, Caneadea Grange, American legion. He had served as a justice of the peace, supervisor of the Town of Caneadea from 1935-1951 and served on the Allegany Co. Soil Conservation board of directors.
Surviving besides his wife are 3 sons; W. Page Chamberlain, Hugh D. Chamberlain Jr, and Clifford Chamberlain; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Mahoney; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Donald E. Chamberlain and Merton Chamberlain."
