"Carthage - Mrs. Wilda M. Caldwell, 86, of 442 South James street, widow of Frank E. Caldwell, died Thursday evening in the Carthage Area hospital, where she had been a patient since Tuesday.
Mrs. Caldwell is survived by two sons, Floyd, Ithaca and Robert, Detroit, Mich; six daughters, Mrs. Russell (Ruth) McBride, Detroit, Mrs. John G. (Irene) Shannon, Carthage, Mrs. Ernest (Marion) Coris, Springfield, Mass, Mrs. John (Bernice) Mobuis, Detroit, Mrs. Henry (Merril) Brown, Carthage, and Mrs. Earl (Joyce) Moore, Highland; a half-brother, Lee Stevens, Harrisville.
Born in Harrisville, Jan 7, 1882, a daughter of James and Lizzie Billingsby Mantle, she attended local schools. She taught in rural schools locally for years and was married to Frank E. Caldwell, July 4, 1899. Mr. Caldwell worked as an operator in Carthage for the Niagra Mohawk Power corporation and later worked at Camp Drum. He died in 1952."
