David N. Burtner, 77, of Stow, Ohio, formerly of Harrison, died Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) in Hospice Care Center, Copley, Ohio.
Born Oct. 26, 1926, in Harrison, he lived 45 years in Ohio.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Burtner was a material handler in the stamping plant at Ford Walton Hills.
He was a member of the Moose in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the Eagles and Acker-Moore Memorial Post, both of Stow.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Reichard-Coda Burtner; a son, David M. (Rhonda) Burtner of Morgan City, La; a daughter, Debbie (Bruce) Reger of Springdale Township, Ohio; two stepsons, John (Georgia) Coda of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Lee Coda of Stow; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Gaebelein of Stow and Darlene Coda of Green, Ohio; and a sister, Irene (Robert) Ormesher of Leechburg.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kelly (David) Pongracz, Gaylon and Heath (Jessica) Jones, Hannah and Taylor Burtner, Joshua Reger and Connor Nipper; four great-grandchildren, Katilyn and Christopher Pongracz, and Breanna and Brock Jones; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Burtner and Avanall Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Valjean Elliott Burtner, in 1974; his parents, David N. and Nellie Shook Burtner; and a brother, Roy Burtner.
Visitation was in Stow. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Mount Airy Chapel, Harrison. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Harrison. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333."
