Tribes Hill, May 4 - Fred Everett Sleight died suddenly Tuesday night at 11 o'clock at his home on the Johnston road. In this village. He had been in poor health the past few days. Tuesday night he retired about 9 o'clock. After a time his wife heard him breathing heavily and summoned Dr. A. J. Townley, health officer, who found, on arrival, that life was extinct. Mr. Sleight was born in the town of Ellmond February 28, 1873, a son of Theodore and Harriet Otis Sleight. He was graduated from the High school at Canaseraga. N.Y, and from Alfred university, Alfred, N.Y. December 24, 1900, he married Miss Maude Brown at Arkport, N.Y. Mr. Sleight taught school for many years. He left Cherry Valley, where he was principal of the High school. In September, 1930, coming to the Amsterdam High school. He was teacher of science in the local school until June, 1931, when he retired. Since coming to Montgomery county, he has lived in the Tribes Hill, where he was well known and highly respected. He was a member of the Canaseraga lodge, No. 781, F & A.M. / Besides his wife, Mr. Sleight is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hiram Gedney, Montrose, N.Y, and Mrs. C. L. Youmans, Buffalo; two aunts, Mrs. O. S. Sleight, Canaseraga and Miss Floy Sleight, Cornell. / The body was taken to the George funeral parlors in Fonda and later moved to the home, where the funeral will be held. The particulars will be announced later."

Pearl St, Menands, died Thursday night at Memorial Hospital, Albany, after a brief illness. She was 79 years of age. Born in Bishopville, she had resided in Green Island for ten years before moving to Menands two months ago. She was an elementary school teacher for many years teaching at Stony Point, Valatie and Kinderhook. She retired about 20 years ago. While residing in Green Island she was a member of the Green Island Methodist Church. She was the widow of Fred Sleight. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hilan Gedney of Montrose and Mrs. Charles L. Youmans of Menands, formerly of Green Island. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Robertson Funeral Home, Hornell."
