"Accident at Fabius
While Cyrus and Daniel Rowley of Fabius were riding in a lumber wagon some three miles from that village Tuesday afternoon, the board upon which Mr. Chaffee was sitting broke and let him to the ground. Before Mr. Rowley, who was driving, could stop the horses one of the rear wheels passed over Mr. Chaffee's head, crushing it badly.
The injured man was taken to the home of R. Crozier near by and Dr. Andrews of Fabius called. He found the skull fractured in several different places and considers Mr. Chaffee's chances of recovery as very doubtful. He was unconscious at last reports. Mr. Chaffee is the proprietor of Chaffee's mills and is widely known and respected."
