William Andrew McNaughton (1920 - 1999)
"William Andrew McNaughton, 79, of Rimersburg RD 2, Madison Township, Clarion County, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at his home following a two-year illness. Born March 26, 1920, in Pinoak, Madison Township, Clarion County, he was a son of William A. and Alice HILE McNaughton. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force with the 71st Fighter Squadron, with duty in Europe. Mr. McNaughton retired from Riphco in Rimersburg where he was employed as a plumber and electrician. He was a member of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church in Rimersburg. Mr. McNaughton was married in Shippenville April 11, 1949, to the former Dorothy L. HEPLER, who survives. Also surviving are eight sons, Donald McNaughton and his wife, Darlene, and Jeffrey McNaughton and his wife, Jodie, all of Brookville, Gary McNaughton of Erie, Mark McNaughton of East Brady RD 1, Douglas McNaughton and his wife, Marie, of Parker, David McNaughton of Pittsburgh, Charles McNaughton and his wife, Holly, of Rimersburg and Brian McNaughton of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; six daughters, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Wittenburg of Erie, Mrs. Samuel (Catherine) SHELTON of Crawfordsville, Ind., Mrs. David (Connie) WOLFE, of Clarion RD 1, Mrs. Shawn (Linda) MERTZ of Pittsburgh, Amy DIVENS of Sligo and Mrs. Michael (Melissa) MORTIMER of Rimersburg RD 1; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by three brother, Richard McNaughton of Rimersburg RD 2, Robert McNaughton of Erie and Paul McNaughton of Oil City; one sister, Mrs. Leo (Jean) RETTIG of Rimersburg RD 2; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. McNaughton was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward McNaughton and Fred McNaughton. The Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be private. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Richard Roman Catholic Church in Rimersburg with the Rev. William Kuba as the presider. Interment will follow in St. Eusebius Cemetery, East Brady. Memorial donations may be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA, Knox, Pa. 16232"

"Carl H. Bartley, 79
Carl H. Bartley, 79, of New Bethlehem, died at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born April 29, 1928, in Cambridge, Ohio, he was the son of Arthur and Estella (Durnell) Bartley. Mr. Bartley married Jewel L. Hepler on April 21, 1967. She survives. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II. He was employed by Mahoning Township, Arm-strong County. He was a foreman for REP Coal Company and was also the owner and operator of Bartley Mining Company from 1978 to 1992. Mr. Bartley enjoyed hunting and farming. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Carl H. Bartley II and his wife, Arlene, of New Bethlehem; five daughters, Donna Ash and her husband, Bill, of Arizona, Marcie L. Bartley of Florida, Tracey J. White of Punxsutawney, Tina L. Shirey and her husband, Bryan, of Hawthorn, and Carla R Witherel and her husband, John, of Pitts-burgh; and nine grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bartley was preceded in death by a son, Alan Carl Bartley; an infant grandson; a sister, Helen Bartley; and two brothers, Tom Bartley and Arthur Bartley. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn with the Rev. Lyle Westover, pastor of Distant Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Alcola Trinity Cemetery, Redbank Township, Clarion County. Memorial contributions may be made to Clarion Forest Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, P.O. Box 668, Knox, PA 16232."
