Bertrand Homer Rublee (1887 - 1956)


"Bertrand H. Rublee, 68, of Ellington, died at 8:15 A.M. Monday, April 16, 1956, in WCA Hospital. Mr. Rublee was born in Ellington July 29, 1887, the son of Alston and Flora Herrick Rublee. Mr. Rublee, who operated a farm, was a member of Farm Bureau, the GLF, Ellington Grange and Ellington Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, Minnie Rublee; one son, Robert Rublee of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Lawrence, Parke and Charlotte Lynn Rublee, all of Buffalo. Friends may call at Mattison Funeral Home, Kennedy, where services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Thursday. The Rev. Lance Zavitz of Ellington Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington."

Minnie Mariam (Rowley) Rublee (1888 - 1958)


"Mrs. Minnie R. Rublee, 74, formerly of Ellington, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1958, in the Niagara-Lutheran Nursing Home in Buffalo.
She was born Nov. 23, 1883, the daughter of Ernest and Ella Older Rowley. Mrs. Rublee was the wife of the late Bertrand Rublee and the mother of the late Robert M. Rublee.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ernestine R. Milks of Jamestown and Mrs. Bessie M. Hayes of Miami, Fla.; one brother C. Lynn Rowley of Winter Haven, Fla., and three grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday in the Ellington Congregational Church.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Ellington Library Assn. or the Western New York Chapter of the American Cancer Society. "

"C. Lynn Rowley Is Dead; Retired Insurance Man
C. Lynn Rowley, 83, co-founder of the Swan-Rowley Co. Inc., Jamestown insurance firm, died Friday (May 16, 1969) in Winter Haven, Fla., where he had made his residence since 1954.
Mr. Rowley was employed at the former Chautauqua National Bank for 27 years before entering the insurance business in 1933 with the late Arthur W. Swan.
He was born in Ellington, Feb. 3, 1886, the only son of the late Ernest and Emma Older Rowley.
He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Business College.
Mr. Rowley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven; a 50-year member of Mt. Moriah Lodge, F. & A.M. of Jamestown; member of Jamestown Consistory, Scottish Rite, and Jamestown Exempt Volunteer Fire Association; and a former director of the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce.
His wife, Mrs. Edna Osborne Rowley, died in 1963.
He is survived by a son, Charles L. Rowley, Jr., Jamestown; a daughter, Mrs. Phillip Munson, Clinton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Miss Mary Lynn Munson, Rochester, Miss Jean Munson and Miss Kim Munson, Clinton, Mrs. Charles Sundquist and Miss Annette Rowley, both of Jamestown; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Hayes and a nephew, Russell M. Hayes, Jr., both of Miami, Fla.; a foster son, Thomas E. Purcell, Jamestown, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Mary Judd, Sherman Oaks, Calif.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Henderson-Lincoln Funeral Home."
