"Richard Mayhew
Richard James Maybew, died in his home in Columbus Sunday. He was a former resident of Lima, having retired from BLH in 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Helen and brother, Strobel of Florida.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m.in the Schoedinger Funeral Home, the State Street Chapel, Columbus. Burial will also follow in Columbus."

"Donald Mayhew Reported Dead
Lima Soldier Killed On Okinawa June 13
Pfc. Donald D. Mayhew, 20, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Mayhew, Runyan-apts, 124 N. Jameson-av, was reported killed in action June 13, 1945 while serving on Okinawa island, the War department has informed his parents.
A member of the 96th Infantry Division, Pfc. Mayhew was inducted into military service from Columbus in March, 1843. He trained in Texas, Chicago and Arkansas before going overseas, and received additional training in the Hawaiian islands. Pfc. Mayhew was among the first wave of invasion troops to land on Layte island.
Prior to his entrance in the armed forces, he was a student at Ohio State university in Columbus, where his family lived before moving to this city in May, 1943. As a participant in athletics, he was a record swimmer, and served as an instructor and life-guard at a number of Columbus pools.
His father holds the position as assistant to the vice-president in charge of manufacturing at the Lima Locomotive Works, Inc."
