George Barnett Loeffler (1833 - 1928)


"G.D. Loeffler dies at Age of 95 Years
Ogden, Ill, Dec. 11. - (Special.) - G.D. Loefffler, one of the oldest men of this vicinity, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Saddler, at 12:20 o'clock today, after a short illness of complications of diseases, due to inffirmatives of advanced ages.
George Denhart Leoffler was born Jan. 14, 1833, in D_enhausen, Wurteneburg, Germany. He came to this country when a young man and has made his home in Illinois and Ohio practically all of the time since.
He was married to Mary Ann Shroeder in 1858. To that union, four children were born, tow of which died, in infancy. he was married again to Elizabeth Grayback in 1867(?). To that union six children were born, one during infancy. Another son, George, died about four years ago. Mr. Loeffler died about two years ago.
The deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. Edith Saddler of this place, Albert of Fithin(?), Mary of Ohio, Miss Kate of Arkansas, Gus of St. Joseph and John of near Fithin(?). There are nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held from the late home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in the family lot in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Mr. Loeffler was a former resident of Champaign, having taught school and music there for a number of years. He also preached in the German Lutheran church in Champlain, for a number of years."
