The Alta has been opened by three tunnels ... Dr. Ernest Grenier, mining engineer and metallurgist, estimated— before striking ore in the Cole Saunders tunnel — that the value of ire in sight was $775,000. Lyman Rowley, the mining captain of the company, considered this estimate much below its real value."
