Samuel William Cheney (1772 - 1858)
"Died...
In this town, on the 4th inst., Mr. Samuel Cheney aged 87 years. Mr. Cheney was one of our very oldest inhabitants; his father's family were the eighth family that settled in Brandon. Mr. Cheney was for a great many years a member of the Baptist Church. He was a great sufferer during the last years of his life from a cancer in the face. "The weary wheels of life stood still at last."

Sarah (Allen) Cheney (1769 - 1859)
"Died.
In this town, Aug. 17th, Mrs. Sarah Cheney, aged 90 years.
Mrs. Cheney was a praying christian and it may be truly said of her that her life was "one continued breath of prayer." By a large circle of children and grand-children she was beloved and reverenced and to them she has left, which is more priceless than gold — the memory of a holy example. Though the frosts of almost ninety winters had fallen, they had not chilled the perennial fount of love within her bosom; and 'mind the decay of the earthly house the soul shone forth a gem unsullied and immortal.
"A sleep in Jesus! O how sweet,
To be for such a slumber meet!"
