Jacob Wilson Knapp (1813 - 1894)
"Major Jacob W. Knapp.
"Warsaw, N.Y., Nov. 18 — Major Jacob W. Knapp died at 4 o'clock this afternoon, aged eighty-one years. He was born in this town, and passed nearly all his life here. He had an honorable record as a soldier, having served as captain of Company D. 1st New-York Dragoons, from August, 1862, until January, 1865, and was major of the regiment from that time until his discharge from the service the following July. He was Justice of the Peace nearly all the time from 1842 until three or four years ago, and was postmaster from 1852 to 1861, Major Knapp was married in August, 1836, to Miss Elvira Putnam, who died in 1888. Of the six children born to them, only two survive, Miss Caroline Knapp and Mrs. Hattie Knapp."
