Daniel Allen (1829 - 1899)
"Death of Daniel Allen.
It Resulted From Injuries Received in a Runaway.
Our community was saddened on Thursday morning upon receiving word of the death of Daniel Allen, which occurred at his home, about one and one-half miles west of here. Though not unexpected, the blow was none the least severe for he was a man much loved by all who knew him. On Tuesday afternoon, preceding, while loading barrels of cooper shop, west of the depot, his team became frightened at the noise made by the exhaust of steam from an engine standing on the track, taking water. They immediately started to run and as they crossed the railroad track, a sudden swerve of the wagon threw Mr. Allen out, who struck upon the frozen ground with much force ... His two sons were at once notified and the Rev. Ray Allen, of Somerset, arrived the following afternoon, but his other son, George, of New York, was unable to be present at his father's bedside before he passed away, as it was impossible... The deceased was born January 30, 1829, at the home where he died, and during his entire life, remained there... The deceased was married June 15, 1851, to Miss Leverna Cheney, of this place, and three children were born to them: George and Ray, as previously mentioned, and one daughter, Cora, who for the past three years has resided with him, since the death of her husband. Mr.Allen was a kind, loving father and husband. ...the services were conducted by Rev. C. R. Buck, of Pavilion. The remains were interred in Maplewood Cemetery. The deceased leaves besides his children, two sisters, Mrs. Glass, of Michigan, and Mrs. Manchester, of Syracuse; also two brothers, William, of La Grange and Jerome, of Geneva, all of whom were present at the funeral services. The community feel indeed, a deep sympathy for all so sadly and suddenly bereaved, but especially for the daughter, from whose home he was taken."

Amanda (Terrill) Cheney (1819 - 1901)
"Mrs. Amanda Cheney, a life-time resident of this town, died at half past ten o'clock on Sunday morning at the home of her grand-daughter, Mrs. Lily Nobles Hutchinson. Mrs. Cheney was born at Union Corners eighty-two years ago, her father being Ezra Terrell, one of the earliest settlers of the town who came here with his father, Solomon Terrell, from Bennington, Vt., in 1810. She was united in marriage to Edward Cheney in 182_. The fruit of this union was one daughter, Emerette, who in 1862, was wedded to James Nobles, of this place. Their children, Mrs. Lily Nobles, and Edwin Nobles, of Whatcomb, Wash., are the only immediate survivors of Mrs. Cheney. About one year ago her health gave way and she came to live with Mrs. Hutchinson. On February 29 she suffered a slight shock and was confined to her bed most of the time since. Her funeral was held from her late place of residence on Tuesday at one o'clock, Rev. Palmeter, of Perry, officiating. Interment was made beside the remains of her late husband in Maplewood cemetery at Union Corners."
