"W.W. Babcock Died in Bath on Monday
William W. Babcock, aged 64, head of the W.W. Babcock Manufacturing Company of Bath and one of the most highly esteemed residents of Bath, died Monday night at his home there.
Mr. Babcock was born near Canaseraga, 64 years ago, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Babcock. When a lad he removed to Addison, where for several years he was engaged as a painter and decorator. In 1898 he removed to Campbell, where he was associated with Warren B. Hamilton in conducting a general store.
A member of the republican party, Mr. Babcock was an active and staunch worker in party affairs.
He started the organization of the W.W. Babcock Manufacturing Company, which grew, under his efficient and faithful application, not only to be the largest manufacturing concern in Bath, but also gained a nation wide reputation for the manufacture of ladders. Mr. Babcock worked tirelessly to make the business the success it is today and for the past 29 years, had served as president.
Besides his widow, who was formerly Miss Grace Lewis, he leaves a son, Millard of Bath, a sister, Mrs. Hosiah McIntyre of Bath and a brother George Babcock of Avoca."
