"Miss Margaret Burns Mantle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burns Mantle, of New York and Forest Hills, Queens, was married Friday evening to Mr. Edward Gerard Jr. of this city, son of Mr. Edward Gerald Gerard, of Forest Hills, writer and publisher. The ceremony was performed in St. Luke's Episcopal church, Forest Hills, by the Rev. Thomas Blomquist. Supper at the bride's home followed the ceremony.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. du Pont Snowden was matron of honor and Miss Jean Johnson was maid of honor. Miss Jeanne Hasselriis and Miss Vera Engelhardt were bridesmaids. Flower girls were Sally Stokes and Robin Hansen. Mr. Guerry Snowden was best man. Ushers were Mssrs. James Atkins, Richard Warner, J. Napier Blandy and Du Pont Snowden.
Mrs. Gerard wore a gown of chantilly lace over satin and a tulle veil caught with a cluster of flowers. She carried freesieas and camelias. The honor attendants wore pink marquiesette gowns and matching caps, and the bridesmaids' ensembles were similar, in lighter pink. All carried blue iris and pink gladioli. The flower girls wore pink and carried spring flowers.
The bride was graduated from Kew-Forest School, Wildcliff Junior College, Swarthmore, Pa., and Pratt Institute. Her father is dramatic critic of "The Daily News" and the author of a yearly anthology entitles "The Best Plays." Mr. Gerard attended Lehigh University, and is with the engineering department of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. They will live in Claymont."
