Olive Rosina (Knapp) Ray (1831 - 1884)

"OBITUARY — MRS. H. L. RAY.
Mrs. Olive Ray, wife of Hiram L. Ray and daughter of the late Mr. Knapp, died at her home in this village on the 10th inst, aged 53 years, 4 months and 22 days. Mrs. Ray was born in the town of Warsaw, in this State, March 19th, 1831. She was married to Hiram Ray Nov. 28th, 1855, in which holy fellowship they have lived, sharing together life's joys and sorrows, for nearly twenty-nine years. She was a true and faithful wife, a tender and loving mother. Her husband and children shared her constant attention and care. It was the great ambition of her life to minister to their happiness, and it may in truth be said that she sacrificed her self upon the alter of her love as wife and mother. She was converted to God in the year 1872, and on Feb. 10th, 1873, was received into full connection in the Methodist Episcopal church in which she remained as an approved member until her departure to the church triumphant in heaven. She honored her profession, and the church of her choice, by a uniform and consistent life. She was modest and unassuming, but noble-hearted and generous; a true and sincere Christian; and she will be greatly missed by her family and the church. Her death is a sad loss to her husband and children. B."
