"Neighboring Counties...George G. Babcock, for fifty years postmaster at Doty's Corners, near Hornellsville, died last Thursday, aged eightyone years. He was a staunch Democrat and was probably the oldest postmaster in the United States, except one, Roswell Beardsley, of North Lansing, Tompkins County."
