"Garfield Rites Held in Portales
PORTALES, N.M., Feb. 5—Funeral services for Harry Garfield of Rowley were conducted today at 10 a.m. in the Fourth Street Church of Christ here, Mr. Grover C. Ross, minister, officiated and burial was in toe Portales Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home. Mr. Garfield, 71, died Sunday at an Artesia, N.M., hospital. He had been ill for more than two years. A former resident of Portales, Mr. Garfield was born in Limestone Gap, Okla., on March 6, 1885, and moved to Portales about 30 years ago. He is survived by his wife, one son, Marshall Garfield, and daughter, Mrs. Mildred Cranford, all of Artesia; another daughter, Mrs. Lucille Brittain of Bartlesville, Okla.; three brothers, Russell and Cecil Garfield of Tulsa and Henry L. Garfield of Kiowa, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Jenkins of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Laverne Long of Liberal, Kan., and seven grandchildren."
