"Betty Ann (Cannon) Stover, 67, of Vandergrift, died Monday, May 26, 2003, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born July 28, 1935, in Vandergrift, she had lived in the Kiski Valley most of her life. She was employed as a bus driver by Byers Busing Co. in Vandergrift and was a member of Holy Spirit Praise and Fellowship Center in Wilmerding. She worked as a volunteer with young adults with disabilities throughout the area and also worked with United Cerebral Palsy. She enjoyed cooking, baking and playing bingo. Survivors include her mother, Anna Cannon, of Vandergrift; a daughter, Kimberly Stover, of Vandergrift; a son, Thomas "Toma" Stover, of Greensburg; four brothers, Martin Cannon, of Browns Point, Wash., Douglas Cannon, of Mentor, Ohio, David Cannon, of Lynchburg, Va., and Charles Cannon, of Arlington, Texas; and a sister, Kathy Mathis, of Holland, Mich. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Cannon. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME, 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Anna Jean Brinter officiating. Vernis M. Mickey "Mickey" Pike, 80, of Freeport died at 4:35 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 27, 2003) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison, following a lingering illness.
Born Jan. 30, 1923, in the Laneville area of Freeport, she was a lifelong resident of the community.
Before her marriage, Mrs. Pike was a mail clerk at the former Joseph S. Finch Distilleries, Schenley, Gilpin.
She was the last surviving member of the Mickey family who owned and operated the former Valley Mills, also known as Mickey's Mills, a local historic landmark in the Laneville area for more than 65 years.
Mrs. Pike was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport.
She enjoyed taking care of her family.
Survivors include a son, William H. (Sharon) Pike of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Darlene J. Pike and Mrs. Karen A. (John) McDermott, both at home; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Pike, in 1992; her parents, Mirl C. and Sarah E. Rowley Mickey; and a sister, Melvetta Shirey.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport. Funeral ceremonies will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, with her pastor, the Rev. Bill Mumaw, officiating. Please meet at the church. Martha E. Burtner, 95, of Sarver, formerly of Natrona Heights, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, in Fairwinds Manor, Winfield Township. Mrs. Burtner was born Saturday, Feb. 22, 1913, in Natrona, a daughter of the late Peter and Hilma Swanson Johnson. She was a 1932 graduate of Har-Brack High School. She worked as a ward clerk for 24 years at Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Natrona Heights. She loved dogs and, because of that love, she boarded dogs for people. She also enjoyed traveling and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Betty L. (William) Rebhum, of Buffalo Township; two sisters, Wilma Heutchy, of Sarver, and Sally Bargerstock, of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Rae Ann (Alvin) Cline, of Welch, W.Va., Jennifer (Michael) Kearns, of Sigel, and Karen Maldonado, of Niceville, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Desiree' and Cameron Cline and Daniel Maldonado; and one great-great-grandchild, Audrianna Nowlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O. Burtner, who died Sept. 26, 1962; brother, Harvey Johnson; and two sisters, Gertrude Johnson and Dorothy Gibson. Burtner, 77, of Stow, Ohio, formerly of Harrison, died Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) in Hospice Care Center, Copley, Ohio. / Born Oct. 26, 1926, in Harrison, he lived 45 years in Ohio. / He was a Navy veteran of World War II. / Mr. Burtner was a material handler in the stamping plant at Ford Walton Hills. / He was a member of the Moose in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the Eagles and Acker-Moore Memorial Post, both of Stow.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Reichard-Coda Burtner; a son, David M. (Rhonda) Burtner of Morgan City, La.; a daughter, Debbie (Bruce) Reger of Springdale Township, Ohio; two stepsons, John (Georgia) Coda of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Lee Coda of Stow; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Gaebelein of Stow and Darlene Coda of Green, Ohio; and a sister, Irene (Robert) Ormesher of Leechburg.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kelly (David) Pongracz, Gaylon and Heath (Jessica) Jones, Hannah and Taylor Burtner, Joshua Reger and Connor Nipper; four great-grandchildren, Katilyn and Christopher Pongracz, and Breanna and Brock Jones; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Burtner and Avanall Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Valjean Elliott Burtner, in 1974; his parents, David N. and Nellie Shook Burtner; and a brother, Roy Burtner.
Visitation was in Stow. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Mount Airy Chapel, Harrison. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Harrison. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333."

Russell Wesley McKnight, 61, of Indiana, Pa., died Monday, April 17, 2006, at his residence.
Born Oct. 19, 1944, in Natrona Heights, Harrison, to Elizabeth "Betty" Rowley McKnight of Freeport, and the late Russell McKnight, he lived in Indiana since 1962.
Mr. McKnight graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1967, and obtained his master's degree before becoming a school teacher.
He was a member of Freeport United Methodist Church and was an avid sports fan, especially football. He also enjoyed following and talking politics.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his aunt, Jean R. Buechner of Freeport; and three cousins, George (Carol) Buechner of West Union, W.Va., Daniel (Joanne) Buechner of Brandon, Fla., and Mandy (Michael) Allen of Norfolk, Va.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandmother, who helped raise him, Carrie Rowley.

Myron H. "Hub" Rowley, 79, a resident of Meadville for 41 years, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown. Born April 13, 1928, in Freeport, he was a son of Bertha and Clyde Rowley. In 1953, he married Violet Yvorra, who preceded him in death in 1985. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy. Following the war, he was employed by PPG Glass Co. in Vernon Township for more than 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and vacationing at his cabin in Canada. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a former member of Freeport Methodist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin, Clyde Kenneth, and his older brother, Robert. Surviving are three daughters, two granddaughters, a great-granddaughter, and his only sister, Ruth Hale, of Concordia, Cabot, formerly of Freeport. "Chuck" Ross, 49, of Natrona Heights, formerly of Buffalo Township, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, while in the company of family members at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Mr. Ross was born Dec. 29, 1958, in Natrona Heights, a son of Charles I. and Carolyn (Rowley) Ross of Buffalo Township. He Graduated from Freeport High School in 1976 and attended Butler County Community College with studies in park management. Chuck was a member of Freeport United Methodist Church. He was employed as a production supervisor at Saxonburg Ceramics in Saxonburg for 30 years before the plant closed. He was an avid hunter in rifle, muzzleloader and archery. He made his own arrows and recurve bows. He also did his own butchering and some taxidermy. He loved spending time at his camp in Mundorf, but the thing he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his companion of nine years, Sharon Miksich, of Brockway; two sisters, Linda, wife of James Fergus, of South Buffalo Township and Joni, wife of Chuck Lauffer, of South Buffalo Township. He is also survived by five nieces; nephew; and numerous aunts and uncles. Chuck is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Margaret (Henry) Ross; and maternal grandparents, Richard and Martha (Beale) Rowley. Family and friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. She was born May 1, 1911, in Freeport, daughter of the late Clyde and Liverne (Burtner) Scott. Anna lived in Vandergrift most of her life before moving to Reston. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a licensed practical nurse for five years at Pittsburgh Hospital, retiring in 1976. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Thomas Cannon; daughter, Elizabeth Stover; two sisters, Olga Gagen and Helen Goodbread; and brother, Robert Scott.
