"Lucien W. Bingham, died at his mother's residence, in Warsaw, Thursday night at 11 o'clock.

Lucien W. Bingham, son of the late Colonel William Bingham, died on Thursday evening at 11 o'clock, after a brief but very painful illness, at his mother's residence in Warsaw, aged 53 years. An active and upright business life is thus suddenly closed, and a devoted son and brother taken. Mr. Bingham has been a commercial traveler of twenty years and had an extended acquaintance in the best business and social circles, south, west, and east. He was a thorough Christian gentleman, genial in his nature and possessing rare social qualities. He married Miss Lucy A. Bangs(sp?) of Georgetown, D.C., who died August 1_, 1867, after a brief _. He was a member of Joy Lodge, F. and A.M, St. Omer commendary, 23d Regiment association of Elmira, N.Y. and also of a G.A.R. post in Chicago. Mr. Bingham was insured in the Southern Tier Masonic Relief association and in the Connecticut Mutual. The funeral will be on Monday at 1 o'clock p.m. from Trinity church. Warsaw lodge, F. and A.M. and Gibbs post, G.A.R, will attend in a body, but the episcopal burial service only will be used."

"James L. Hills, an aged resident of Corfu, died at his home in that village Saturday afternoon. Mr. Hills was in his seventy-ninth year, having been born in 1812 in Brookfield, Madison county. A widow and three children survive him."

"...Colonel Bingham died in 1869, and a son, Lucien Bingham, in 1886. The surviving members of the family are William Bingham, Mrs. James O. McClure and Miss Mettie Bingham, all residents of Warsaw. Mrs. Bingham also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Oliver Atherton, of Moscow, Mrs. Rhoda Cross, of Perry, and Mrs. Eunice C. Smead, of Buffalo. The funeral will be held from Trinity Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o clock, Rev, H. W. Spalding, officiating."

"Mrs. Charlotte M. Pixley, wife of Edgar Pixley and mother of Sheriff Charles B. Pixley, of Batavia, died at her home in the southeastern part of Bethany yesterday morning from Bright's disease, aged 66 years.
—Yesterday morning at her home in the town of Bethany occurred the death of Charlotte, wife of Edgar Pixley. The deceased was born in Bethany sixty-six years ago and had passed her entire in that town. Besides her husband she leaves one daughter, Mrs. Charles Anabel of Bethany, and one son, Charles B. Pixley, sheriff of Genessee county."

Amanda (Terrill) Cheney (1819 - 1901)


"Old Resident Gone.
Mrs. Amanda Cheney, one of the oldest residents of Pavilion, died Sunday, aged 82 years. She was born at Union Corners in the east part of town, and resided on the same farm sixty-five years. Her husband, Edward Cheney, died nine years ago. For the last year she had resided with her granddaughter, Mrs. Grant Hutchinson, in Pavilion village. During this time she has been in failing health, and since the 22nd of February had been confined to her room Besides Mrs. Hutchinson she leaves a grandson, Edward T. Nobles of Washington."

Mima C. (Hovey) Gifford (1825 - 1902)


"Mrs. Mima C. Hovey, widow of Major Ira R. Gifford, late of Brooklyn, died in this city yesterday, in her seventy-fifth year. Mrs. Gifford was born in Warsaw, N.Y., May 27, 1825, and passed her girlhood days in Wyoming County. During the first years of her married life she resided in Logansport, Ind. At the beginning of the Civil War he husband was mustered into the United States army, serving until the close of the rebellion. For two years of this time, Mrs. Gifford was his companion, going from battlefield to battlefield, as duty called. In 1865 they went to Brooklyn, remaining there until major Gifford's death in October, 1897. Since that time she has resided in this city with her brother, Dr. B. H. Hovey. Bringing (?) a letter from Plymouth Church, Brooklyn, she united with the First Methodist Episcopal Church of this city, of which she has been a faithful member. Mrs. Gifford died of pneumonia, after a brief illness, leaving no children. The surviving relatives are her brothers, Dr. B. H. Hovey and Spencer Hovey. of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Blackmar, of Le Roy. The funeral services will be held at the residence of Dr. Hovey, No. 34 North Fitzhugh street, tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. The burial will be private."

Mrs. Emerett Hovey a resident of Batavia Over Thirty Years
Mrs. Emerett Hovey died at her home, No. 6 School street, Batavia, Sunday evening at 8:45 of a complication of diseases, aged 70 years.
Mrs. Hovey was born in Middlebury, July 26/28(?), 1832 and had been a resident of Batavia for over thirty years. She is survived by two sons, Luke P. Hovey, of Batavia, and Fred L. Hovey, of Rochester, and two daughters, Mrs. John M. Hamilton and Mrs. Jerome L. White, of Batavia."

Rowley Harley Knapp (1836 - 1912)


"Rowley H. Knapp.
Honeoye, April 3 — Rowley H. Knapp, a hardware merchant of this place, died yesterday morning, aged 76 years. Mr. Knapp was the son of Harley and Fannie Knapp and was born in Warsaw, August 7, 1836(?). He married at Hemlock(?), February 23, 18_9, Miss Martha Short, eldest daughter of Philip Short, Jr. and Nancy Groat Short. One son was born to them who died when a young lad. Mr. Knapp has been in business in Honeoye nearly fifty years. He was a charter member of Eagle Lodge, No. 612 F. and A.M. He leaves his wife and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the family residence Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock the Rev. Walter Hawthorne officiating. The burial will be in Lake View cemetery."

"Death Claims Oldest Church member
Mrs Adelaide Watrous, 83, oldest member of the Perry Congregational Church, died last night after a several months illness of paralysis.
Mrs. Watrous, who was the daughter of John and Eliza Prentice, was born in Nunda, Aug. 10, 1846. She leaves a daughter, Ida and a son, Albert R., both of this place and also a sister, Mrs. Dwight Buckland. Funeral services will take place Sunday at 2:30 o'clock from the home, 56(?) Borden Avenue."

"Final Rites Conducted For Nicholos Burns
Funeral services for Nicholas Burns, for 27(?) years engineer for the Brighton Cold Storage Company, were conducted yesterday in St. Monica's Church after a prayer service at the home of his daughter Mrs. Fran_ Reagan, 878 Seward Street. Mr. Burns died Thursday Jan. 29 1938.
Bearers yesterday were grandsons. They were Wallace Harold, Robert and Richard Burns and Alton(?) Halloway and Richard Stamp.

Luther R. Watrous (1869 - 1954)


"Luther Watrous
Perry, Oct. 2 — Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, in the Eaton Funeral Home here for Luther R. Watrous, lifelong Perry farmer, who died today (Oct. 2, 1954). He was 85. The Rev. Arthur Guthrie of the Perry center Congregational Church, will officiate, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Death occurred in the Hillsdale Nursing Home, Warsaw, where Mr. Watrous had been for five months.
Born June 20, 1869, on the farm where he had always resided, he was a son of Dwight N. and Sophia Curtis. He never married. Mr. Watrous was a member of the Warsaw Congregational Church.
The only survivor is a sister, Miss Lillian Watrous who lived at home with her brother."

Amy (Piper) Morris (1870 - 1964)


"Mrs. Amy P. Morris
Warsaw— Mrs. Amy Piper Morris, 94, of Warsaw RD, died unexpectedly Wednesday (May 20, 1964) in her home. She was a native of Niagara Falls and had spent most of her life in this area. She was the widow of Frank L. Morris, who was superintendent of standards and purchase of the State of New York under the late Governers Franklin D. Roosevelt and Herbert Lehman. Her husband, who died in 1938, also was chairman of the Wyoming County Democratic Committee for 25 years.
Mrs. Morris died in the Morris homestead which had been in the family for six generations...in her earlier life she was active in many other civic organizations. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church here.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Bernard Hagerman of Canandaigua; four grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Warren Halwey of Bavaria, died May 20, 1963.
Prayers will be said in the home at 12:45 p.m... burial will be in the Warsaw Cemetery."
