"Thursday, June 28 — at her home on the Scott road, Mrs. Mary Alvord, aged 75 years, died after a long illness. Mrs. Alvord, whose maiden name was Mary C. Smith, married Henry S. Alvord in 18__. He has been long dead. Two daughters alone survive the deceased, Mrs. Thomas Fairbanks and Miss Hattie Alvord both of Scott Road. Mrs. Alvord united with the Congregational church in 1850 and has been one of its staunch supporters as long as her health permitted. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon by the Rev.W. H. Robinson. D.D. of Syracuse who was her pastor for years. Burial was made in the Atwater cemetery, which was once part of the Alvord farm."

Benton officiated at services at Baker's Funeral Home in Marathon, Sunday afternoon. Burial was held in the Marathon Cemetery. Beside her husband, she leaves three sons, Grant Douglas of Putnam, Conn., William H. of Syracuse and Earl D. Jr. and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Beasley of Cortlandville and Mrs. W. Randall Nash of Fabius. She is survived by her father, Jasper Crandall of Camillus, and two brothers and two sisters, Herman Crandall of Southbridge, Mass. Howell Crandall of California, Mrs. Frances Simpson of Arcadia, Calif. and Miss Helen Crandall of Seattle."
