"Eleazer Rowley Of East Haddam, Conn., and Some of His Descendants

In 1906 the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society of New York City, published some genealogy of Henry Rowley and some of his descendants, by Homer O. Brainard. I have continued the genealogy of the line of Eleazer Rowley who was born in East Haddam Conn. and married Abigail Spencer, daughter of Nathaniel and Abigail Hurlbert Spencer. They were buried in Moodus Cemetery, ) Easy Haddam.) Eleazer Rowlety's grave stone states he was a soldier in the French and Indian War.
1. Eleazer Rowley, born June 14, 1736 in East Haddam, Conn.; died Jan. 24, 1820; married July 1, 1763, Abigail Spencer who was born June 2, 1741 and died Jan. 21, 1804. She was a descendant of the Sergt. Thomas Spencer who was a resident of Cambridge, Mass., by 1635. Was in Hartford by 1639 and died there Sept. 11, 1687.

iv. Gersham born Feb. 21, 1770; died 1841 age 72, m. Mary____. In his will he mentioned Gersham my namesake. The following notice appeared in Constitution, dated Oct. 6, 1841:
"At Farmervill, N.Y., Gersham Rowley aged 72. Formerly of East Haddam. At the same place on 3rd of Sept. Mr. Gersham Rowley, Jr., son of the above, age 40. " No trace of posterity.
