"Cupid's Victory : Blair-Rowley
The first of June weddings was solemnized today, (Saturday, June 7th, 1924), at high noon when Miss Karen Blair, of this city, became the bride of Howard Fletcher Rowley of Freeport, Pa., at the First Lutheran church with Rev. C.A. Dennig officiating at the simple but impressive ceremony performed before the immediate friends of the bride and bridegroom. The church alter embanked with fragrant white lilacs and lilies of the valley, with baskets of the lovely flowers about the auditorium, lent proper atmosphere for the sacred rites. The bride was attractively gowned in a handsome blue traveling suit with blouse of Dutch blue beaded crepe with the costume motifs being completed with a black hat and corsage. Miss Anna Anderson, a close friend of the bride, and Myron Rowley, a brother of the groom, acted as attendants. Miss Blair, since her arrival in Warren two years ago has gained many friends through her associations as instructor of sewing at Warren High School, and her activities within the First Lutheran church where she was a member of the Dorcas Bible class and other social organizations. Her dependability and willingness to aid in every undertaking will be greatly missed by her host of friends who are extending the heartiest of congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Rowley left immediately after the ceremony for a three weeks wedding tour from Buffalo by water to the Thousand Islands, from thence to Montreal, Canada, to Portland, Me. Boston, New York City, and Atlantic City, returning to their newly furnished home at Vandergrift, Pa. where Mr. Rowley holds a responsible position with the P. R. R. Company — Warren Tribune."

married: Sep. 7, 1956

"CUPIDS VICTORY: ROWLEY-ROSS
Marriage vows were exchanged by Miss Carolyn Rowley and Charles Ross at a very lovely service held at 7:30 o'clock last Friday evening in Freeport Methodist church. The impressive double ring ceremony was read by the bride's pastor, the Rev. Samuel Ford, before the church altar which was banked with white gladioli, ferns and other greenery, and lighted by cathedral tapers in seven branch candelabra. Prior to the wedding church organist, Mrs. Arment Waltenbaugh, gave a recital of favorite nuptial selections and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Leroy Fullerton of Freeport, as she sang "Because," "I Love You Truly" and Malotte's "The Lord's Prayer." "The Bridal March" from Lohengrin by Wagner was used as the processional and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" as recessional. (continued, page 8) The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Rowley of R.D, 1, Freeport, was given in marriage by her father. She appeared in a ballerina length gown of nylon lace and tulle over white satin, fashioned with a scalloped, scoop neckline and long sleeves. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from a bonnet of lace and net edged with seed pearls. She carried a white Testament topped with an orchid with valley lily streamers. The Testament was the gift of the bride's former Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Wilbert Dougherty. The only jewelry worn by the bride was pearl earrings, a gift of the bridegroom. Miss Myra Deemer of the Ford City road was maid of honor. Her gown, also ballerina length, was of yellow nylon and lace with which she wore a matching crown. The bride's sister-in-law, Mrs. James Rowley of Laneville, was bridesmaid. Her gown was fashioned similarly to that of the maid of honor. Both carried coronal bouquets of mixed flowers. The bride's brother, Dale Rowley who just returned from a tour of duty in Tripoli and North America, was best man. And ushering were James Rowley, another brother of the bride, and Donald Heasely of Leechburg, cousin of the bridegroom, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard M. Ross of R.D. 2, Leechburg. Mrs. Rowley selected a dress suit of teal blue with beige accessories and Mrs. Ross wore black crepe with pink accessories. Corsages of pink rosebuds were born by both mothers. Following the wedding a reception, attended by approximately 150 guests, was held in th social rooms of the church. A five tiered wedding cake centered the bridal table. Lilies of the valley and roses with silver leaves decorated the cake which was topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom, a wedding bell with satin streamers and white flowers. Lovely, yellow mum corsages were presented by the bride's mother of each of the aids at the reception, Later that evening Mr. Ross and his bride left for a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and Canada. They are now residing in Laneville. The new Mrs. Ross is a graduate of Freeport Area high school and was employed at the C.W. Burford store, Fifth St. Her husband, also a graduate of Freeport Area high, is an employee of Allegheny-Oberg, Inc., Oak Manor, He recently received his discharge from the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Korea and Japan prior to his charge. The bride was honored by two showers, a personal shower given by Miss Myra Deemer and Mrs. James Rowley at the former's home. And the other given by Miss Betty Ross and Mrs. Joan Woitas in the local Municipal building."
